Throughout the year we host our “Vineyard Tour and Tasting Experience Days”. During your tour you will be guided by experienced head winemaker Lee Dyer who will show you the vineyards. Lee will explain about the history of Norfolk’s Winbirri Vineyard, the methods used in the vineyards to care for the vines and the reasons for the grapes we grow here in England.
Grape varieties grown here at Winbirri include Bacchus, rapidly gaining a reputation as one of East Anglia’s finest exports, together with white varieties Seyval Blanc and Solaris, Pinot Noir, a notoriously difficult grape to grow, produces a delicate red wine, as well as being an essential component, along with Pinot Meunier in certain high quality sparkling wines. Dornfelder, Rondo and Regent are lesser known red varieties that work well in our climate.
After the vineyard tour, we proceed to the winery where you will learn about the processes involved in turning the grapes into our award winning wines. You will also see and hear about the differences in the production methods of white wines, red wines, and English sparkling wines.
To complete your vineyard tour and wine tasting experience, you will be invited up to our tasting room to taste a selection of Winbirri wines. The wine tasting is accompanied by a platter of local cheeses and cured meats.
The vineyard tour and tasting generally lasts between 2 -3 hours depending on your group’s questions. Currently we are only able to offer group tours (minimum 10 people), but plan to introduce tour dates that individuals can join in 2018.
